Virtual Art Talk: Creator of the Photomosaic® Robert Silvers and Barry Goldwater’s Native Art Collection

On Wednesday, July 27, hear a presentation from Robert Silvers, inventor of the Photomosaic® when he was still a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Silvers was commissioned to create the 60th Anniversary cover of LIFE Magazine, and then found himself on national television and featured on shows such as Dateline NBC and Opra. Since then, he has sold over 600,000 posters, four million jigsaw puzzles, and over 200,000 copies of his books. In 2019, Silvers’ work was featured in the Heard Museum’s exhibit Through the lens of Barry Goldwater which included a photomosaic portrait of Barry Goldwater. Silvers utilized nearly a thousand of Goldwater’s images from the Heard Museum’s Billie Jane Baguley Library and Archives collection to create a nearly life-sized image. Senator Goldwater provided key lectures at the Heard including some during Maie Heard’s lifetime. In 1964, he donated more than 400 katsina carvings to the Heard. Sign up today!
