Pre-Fair Webinar | Black Ash Basket Makers & the Emerald Ash Borer Threat

Join us for a free webinar with Kelly Church (Grand Traverse Band Ottawa Chippewa) and Cherish Parrish (Potawatomi-Odawa) about the devastating impact of the Emerald Ash Borer on Black Ash basket makers. Currently in Michigan, the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is killing millions of Black Ash trees. Kelly and Cherish are engaged in the preservation, education, research and teaching of the tradition of black Black Ash making. Hear about their ingenuity in using new materials and developing new styles to adapt to a changing natural world. The Heard Museum Guild is proud to present the artwork of Kelly Church as part of the 2021 Virtual Indian Fair & Market, March 5-7, 2021.
