If you have an interest in the creative expression, history, and culture of American Indian artists, and you are interested in sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors from around United States and the world, consider becoming a docent at the Heard Museum.
The comprehensive training program begins on the first Tuesday of October and continues every Tuesday through April (6 months) from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Students gain a thorough knowledge of the art, history and culture of the Indigenous tribes of the Southwest, and learn how to share that knowledge with visitors.
Upon graduation, the new docents become members of Las Guias (Spanish for ‘The Guides’). Las Guias Members are required to conduct tours at the museum at least two half-days per month, and take continuing education classes on new exhibitions.
Deadline for registration is September 17, 2021.
To submit an application you must be a Heard Museum Member and Heard Guild Member.
If you are already a Guild Member you can download the application at heardguild.org and you can pay the class fee at heardguildshop.com.
