David Martinez Discusses His Contributions to “Arriving Forever into the Present World”

Virtual Art Talk: Watch the recording of our Virtual Art Talk featuring David Martinez (Akimel O’odham/Hia-Ced O’odham/Mexican) in conversation with moderator and Heard Museum curator Velma Kee Craig (Diné). Martinez discusses his contributions to the exhibition, Arriving Forever into the Present World.

This exhibition, which was on view in the Lovena Ohl Gallery, featured works from the Heard Museum’s permanent collection, including textiles, pottery, and basketry, representing living artistic traditions within Southwestern Indigenous cultures. Arriving Forever challenged prevailing conversations about what makes a work of art “contemporary.”
