Sharon Weier, 2025 Chair, Juried Competition
We are thrilled to invite American Indian students in grades 7-12 to participate in our 2025 Youth Art Show & Sale, part of the Indian Fair & Market. This is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to have original artwork judged by a professional panel, compete for ribbons, and earn over $10,000 in cash awards. Best of all, work will be displayed and available for sale to the public!
Since 1986, students from tribes across the U.S. have been showcasing their talents at this event. We welcome all forms of traditional and fine art, including pottery, baskets, jewelry, beadwork, weavings, katsinas, paintings, sculptures, and innovative contemporary pieces in various creative media. Over the years, this event has awarded more than half a million dollars to emerging young artists.
How we support you:
- Increased Prize Money: We’ve significantly boosted the cash awards to over $10,000.
- Streamlined Submission Process: Our new online pre-registration and submission forms make it easier than ever for individual young artists and teachers to submit entries.
- Enhanced Visibility: Our publicity efforts, signage, and display panels, ensure your artwork is showcased to its best advantage, attracting even more visitors to the Show and Sale.
There is no application or booth fee for YASS entrants. After judging, artists’ work will be proudly displayed and sold in the Monte Vista Room of the Heard Museum during the Indian Fair & Market on March 1 & 2, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ.
Don’t miss this chance to be part of a long-standing tradition that honors and elevates the voices of Indigenous youth through art. We look forward to seeing your creative vision come to life!
