Garden Activity – Children’s Courtyard
Find out more about the incredible and hardy flora that make our landscape so unique while discovering new ideas to conserve water and other precious resources. This all-ages event will feature a hands-on area in the Hearst Foundations Children’s Courtyard (be prepared to get your hands in the soil!), unique art activities, and more…
This program is organized in partnership with the Cihuapactli Collective, a Phoenix-based initiative helping to advance and preserve Indigenous knowledge and practices around wellness, birthways, and traditional foodways.
Micaceous Clay Demonstration – Children’s Courtyard
Moving from farm to table, join us as we welcome Will Riding In. Will Riding-In, (Pawnee/Santa Ana Pueblo) is a researcher, curator, writer, and artist based in Phoenix, Arizona. As an artist, Will forms lustrous red micaceous clay into dishes and pottery. A lesser understood fact about these pieces is that they are a great tool for cooking. Follow along as Will illustrates just how useful these shimmering dishes can be!
“Art Reflecting Nature” Gallery Walk – Museum Gallery
Join our Assistant Registrar, Roshii Montaño (Diné), for a spring time nature walk IN the gallery where you will look for and learn about how the nature was reflected in the many motifs used to adorn pots, textiles, jewelry, and more!
