Join the Heard Museum Guild for its first meeting of 2026 featuring guest speaker Dr. David Martinez!

David Martinez, PhD (Akimel O’odham/Hia-ced O’odham/Mexican) is an author, scholar, and cultural historian whose work centers on Indigenous knowledge, memory, and identity. His new book The Maze of History: Komal Hok, O’odham Teachings, and an Earth-Based Sense of Time explores how O’odham understandings of land, time, and story continue to shape contemporary life. Martinez brings a thoughtful, deeply researched perspective to the region’s living traditions.

Join us as he guides us through the rich landscape of O’odham teaching and their sense of time rooted in land and experience. His work brings cultural wisdom to a broad audience with clarity and heart.

This meeting is open to all, whether you’re a Guild member or simply curious.

Committees: A Fair Chair meeting (by invitation only) will be held after the Guild meeting in the Encanto Room from 1 – 3 p.m.
