ADVANCING AMERICAN INDIAN ART

In the Service Of: American Indian Veteran Artists and Tributes

Ongoing

In the Service Of: American Indian Veteran Artists and Tributes explores the art and tribute art created by and for American Indian veterans. Through the artwork on display, the exhibition reflects the myriad reasons—land, family and cultural responsibility—why American Indian men and women enlist in the U.S. military and serve at a higher percentage than other ethnic groups.

The exhibition includes works of art created by Rick Bartow (Mad River Band of Wiyot), T.C. Cannon (Caddo/Kiowa), Sherman Chaddlesone (Kiowa), Bob Haozous (Diné/Warm Springs Apache), Doug Hyde (Nez Perce/Assiniboine/Chippewa), Yazzie Johnson (Diné) and Gail Bird (Laguna Pueblo/Santo Domingo Pueblo), Charles Loloma (Hopi), Jesse Monongya (Diné/Hopi), TahNibaa Naataanii (Diné), Shirley Pino (Santa Ana Pueblo), and Helen Begay (Diné).
