Virtual Art Talk – Art & Sole Series: Lauren (Lohnny) Thomas

Join us for an exciting Virtual Art Talk with Nike 3D Expert Designer, Lauren Thomas, inspired by Art & Sole, a current exhibition at the Heard Museum that demonstrates how artists’ visual language and distinctive styles can translate across different forms, underscoring that artists are not bound or limited to a specific medium or style.

The Heard Museum, in collaboration with Nike N7, is honored to present our guest, Lauren (Lohnny) Thomas, a 3D Designer currently working with Nike and Nike N7, who’s approach and background illustrate the dynamism of Indigenous artists, as communicated in Art & Sole

Lauren is a 3D Footwear designer in Jordan Brand, and has recently expanded her role as a design director for N7. Hailing from Lennox Island Mi’kmaq First Nation, she takes great pride in representing her cultural heritage at Nike. Lauren is committed to empowering indigenous design not only within Nike but also in broader contexts. Serving as the design lead on Nike’s Native American Network leadership team, she actively contributes to initiatives aimed at increasing indigenous representation. Lauren has played a key role in developing an internship program with The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) to support the growth of indigenous talent within the design sphere at Nike. Beyond her corporate endeavors, she extends her passion for design by organizing a summer design program on her reservation in Prince Edward Island (Epekwitk), Canada.

Away from her professional commitments, Lauren finds joy in pursuits like rock climbing, hiking, painting, and indulging in various other hobbies. Residing in Beaverton, Oregon, she shares her life with her wife and their dog.
