Free Family Summer Saturday: Family Makerspace Day!

Makers, artists and crafters, this day is for you! Join us for our first Family Makerspace Day, which celebrates creativity, curiosity and multiple technologies. Artists, community partners and Heard Museum staff will host activity stations, where the whole family can learn new skills and create art to take home with them. While most of our activities will be in Steele Auditorium, don’t miss our in-gallery activity. Earn a pair of Heard Museum youth-sized sunglasses when you complete the search! Activities will be available all day unless otherwise noted:

  • Weaving with Heard Museum Curator Velma Kee Craig (Diné)
  • Watercolor Painting with Heard Museum Andrew W. Mellon Fellow Rebeka Peshlaki (Diné)
  • Pottery with Yolanda Hart Stevens (Pee Posh/Quechan)
  • Traditional Hawaiian Wayfinding with Leilani Auwen Dong at 11 a.m. (kids) and 11:15 a.m. (youth-adults)
  • Lego building
  • And more!

Complete an in-gallery art search to earn a pair of kid-sized Heard Museum sunglasses!

*Please note that all activities and prizes are while supplies last.
