The Heard’s popular evening series, Native + You, or NU, is back, during First Fridays, the popular monthly Central Phoenix celebration of the arts! Visitors can enjoy the Heard’s 12 exhibit galleries, nationally-acclaimed Courtyard Café and gourmet drinks at the Coffee Cantina, and see the best in Native art at the Heard Shops. And we’re easily accessible by Valley Metro Light Rail; the Heard has its own stop on Central directly across the street from the museum! Get on at Roosevelt and head north two stops to Encanto Boulevard!

In November, the theme is “Stories & Jazz in Arizona.” At 6 p.m. Nov. 7 we will welcome KJZZ-FM host Blaise Lantana as well as the jazz group Earthtones. And look for an improvised cocktail demonstration! A cash bar will be in the Lincoln Gallery for adults of legal alcohol consumption age to enjoy. And Arizona Republic Pulitzer-Prize-winning cartoonist Steve Benson will be on hand drawing caricatures of visitors as part of his “Friday Faces” tour of local venues.
Charly Edsitty and fellow Arizona Storytellers will be weaving tales at the Heard’s Nov. 7 First Friday: Native + You.
Plus, the Arizona Storytellers Project, headed by Megan Finnerty, will be here at 7 p.m. weaving tales on the theme, “Modern Native Stories.” Tickets are required for the Arizona Storytellers’ appearance. Purchase them online →
Mixology master Brandon Casey from The Gladly/Citizen Public House (In Good Spirits) restaurant group will teach an improv cocktail class. Seats are limited, so sign up for $5 per person at the entrance! The $5 includes a cocktail sample.
Also, purchase special prints from “Warbird Press” printmaker Jacob Meders for just $3 each. Available exclusively during First Fridays/NU!
