Join the Heard Museum and Cultural Coalition on Saturday, July 20, for a day of art and music focused on Latine celebrations and designed with kids in mind. Click here for the parking map. Latine refers to people of Latin American origin or descent.
Admission to the museum and all activities are FREE thanks to our generous sponsors.
Activities:
- Gather for a Danza Azteca blessing from Grupo Coatlicue at 10:15 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Steele Auditorium
- Make your own mask and see and learn about masks made by artist Zarco Guerrero in the South Foyer of Steele Auditorium
- Listen to the Harmony Project’s Children’s Mariachi group perform at 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. in the Lyon Family Crossroads Gallery
- Practice your own music skills engaging with Harmony Project’s instrument petting zoo!
- Play Lotería (pictorial bingo) in Spanish and Yaqui hosted by the Yaqui Pride Project at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. in the Monte Vista Room
- Visit the Phoenix Public Library Bookmobile from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to sign up for a library card, browse their book collection, and do activities with Library staff
- Join a family tour of HOME: Native People in the Southwest at 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Look for the giant Frida Kahlo puppet as she moves around campus during the event
- Create your own flower crown, and more!

Cultural Coalition is an organization whose mission is to connect communities and generations to ancestral knowledge and practices through artistic cultural preservation and programs that celebrate Chicano, Latine, and Indigenous heritages.
