Save the Date: January Heard Museum Guild Meeting
Kick-off 2025 with the Heard Museum Guild!
Join us for our first Guild Meeting of the year, featuring Skylar Begay, Director of Tribal Collaboration in Outreach & Advocacy for Archaeology Southwest, Tucson. He will speak about the “Great Bend of the Gila,” known as home to thousands of Indigenous peoples of the Southwest. The bend of the Gila is located southwest of the Phoenix area and is rich with petroglyphs; the area has served as an important corridor for people crossing the Sonoran Desert.
Begay and others at Archaeology Southwest are involved with the proposal to preserve the Great Bend of the Gila and establish it as a National Monument.
This meeting is open to everyone, whether you’re a Guild member or simply curious to learn more about the Heard Museum Guild.
