Beep boop bleep (bloop). Boop bop bloop. Whistle whir, beep bop bloop.
That translates to: Our first Free Summer Saturday of 2022 is out of this world (in a galaxy far, far away)! Hopi artist Duane Koyawena and engineer Joe Mastroianni present their creation: Hopi R2. You will have the opportunity to meet Hopi R2, take photos, enjoy the museum, and participate in themed art activities. Star Wars-themed costumes are encouraged! At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Duane and Joe will present on their process for creating the first ever Indigenous droid, including the engineering process, how Duane brings traditionally Hopi art and culture to the futuristic creation, and why Star Wars resonates so deeply in their community.
Bloop, whistle, beep bop whir. Bleep! (Museum and activities will be open and free of charge to everyone from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. See you there!)
