First Fridays at the Heard: ‘Frida in Focus’

It’s a time to celebrate all things Frida Kahlo! The night’s fun will include a special choreographed performance by Liliana Gomez, below, inspired by the celebrated 20th century Mexican artist. Gomez will recreate four Frida paintings in several locations.

Clandestino, an exploration of new and traditional underground tropical rhythms based out of Phoenix, will transform the Steele Auditorium into a musical “Neo-Tropic ecozone” with Latin influences.

The works of the Phoenix Fridas, above, a local Phoenix arts collective, will be featured in a special mercado. Enjoy some of our Frida-inspired menu items in the Courtyard Café. Bedeck yourself with a Frida-style hairstyle, including braiding and flowers, by Palabra Collective for a $10 donation.

The Heard Museum Shop presents Hispanic painter Ruben Galicia, who will demonstrate his art 6 to 8 p.m. in the Central Courtyard!
