It’s a time to celebrate all things Frida Kahlo! The night’s fun will include a special choreographed performance by Liliana Gomez, below, inspired by the celebrated 20th century Mexican artist. Gomez will recreate four Frida paintings in several locations.
Clandestino, an exploration of new and traditional underground tropical rhythms based out of Phoenix, will transform the Steele Auditorium into a musical “Neo-Tropic ecozone” with Latin influences.
The works of the Phoenix Fridas, above, a local Phoenix arts collective, will be featured in a special mercado. Enjoy some of our Frida-inspired menu items in the Courtyard Café. Bedeck yourself with a Frida-style hairstyle, including braiding and flowers, by Palabra Collective for a $10 donation.
The Heard Museum Shop presents Hispanic painter Ruben Galicia, who will demonstrate his art 6 to 8 p.m. in the Central Courtyard!
FIRST FRIDAY TROLLEYS NOW STOP AT THE HEARD: The First Friday trolleys will be dropping off and picking up passengers at the Heard Museum starting Friday, Nov. 6, and on First Fridays from then on. Trolleys will run counterclockwise on an approximately eight-mile route through central core arts districts approximately every 20 minutes between 6 and 10 p.m. each First Friday. Please board a trolley no later than 9:30 p.m. to return to the Heard.
Visitors who park their vehicles in the Heard lots to board a trolley must return to the museum to claim their vehicles no later than 10:30 p.m., when gates to the lots will be closed. Here’s a map and details of the trolley route.
