Explore Wisdom from the Future with Curator Ann Marshall, PhD

Join Dr. Ann Marshall, Heard Museum Director of Research, for a 30-minute conversation that looks closely at Wisdom from the Future—an exhibition centered on the voices and visions of acclaimed Indigenous artists. Developed by the Heard Museum, the exhibition asks a compelling question: What wisdom would these artists share with their younger selves?

Through artwork paired with personal reflections, visitors will gain insight into pivotal moments of inspiration, perseverance, and artistic growth. The exhibition features twenty-five celebrated Native artists, including:

– Kay WalkingStick (Cherokee)
– Norbert Peshlakai (Diné)
– Preston Singletary (Tlingit)
– Tony Abeyta (Diné)
– Verma Nequatewa (Hopi)
– Nora Naranjo Morse (Tewa, Kha’P’o Ówîngeh)
– Juanita Growing Thunder Fogarty (Fort Peck Assiniboine/Sioux)
– Barbara Teller Ornelas (Diné)
– Richard Zane Smith (Wyandot)

Dr. Marshall will share how these artists’ reflections—rooted in cultural knowledge, creative experimentation, and lived experience—invite all of us to imagine the futures we shape for ourselves and our communities. Discover new perspectives, connect with contemporary Native art, and explore the stories behind the works in this special curator talk.

Included with museum admission and FREE for members. Tour meets at the Info Desk.
