Stories for Día del Niño: Family Love and Community Strength
Enjoy five storytellers from the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute as they share personal and traditional stories for the whole family.
1:00 p.m.:
Weaving at Home with Velma Kee Craig (Diné)
Master weaver and Heard Museum Andrew W. Mellon Fellow Velma Craig will teach you how to make and weave on a cardboard loom. You can weave with yarn or any materials you already have around your house such as scraps of material, plastic shopping bags, old t-shirts, newspaper or junk mail.
2:00 p.m.:
Musical Performance with Grammy-Nominated Canyon Records Artist Aaron White (Northern Ute / Diné)
Aaron will share guitar and flute music to sing along with, and will tell us about the traditions behind making his stunning wooden flutes.
