If you’ve ever thought about joining the Heard Museum Guild, the museum’s dedicated corps of volunteers, a general membership meeting is held on the third Wednesday of each month from September to April, except December.
After a social from 9 to 10 a.m., a featured speaker takes the lectern from 10 to 11 a.m. January’s speaker is archaeologist Allen Dart. He will discuss how American Indian ceramic styles characterized specific areas in the U.S. Southwest before the year 1300. He will also talk about how archaeologists use pottery to date archaeological sites and interpret ancient lifeways.
Dart’s appearance kicks off the 2016 “Prepare for the Fair” series of lectures and artist demonstrations leading up to the 58th annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market. Each “Prepare for the Fair” event is listed separately in our Events Calendar.
The speaker is followed by a business meeting from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Come and meet some of the people whose time, talent and energy are indispensable to making the Heard such a special place. For more information about the Guild, visit heardguild.org.
