Heard Museum Workshop Brings Chiricahua Descendants Together Through Moccasin Making Led by Mescalero Artist Kimberly Enjady
The Heard Museum’s Master Artist Workshop series held a four-day moccasin-making workshop at Cochise Stronghold in southeastern Arizona with 15 Chiricahua descendants from Mescalero, New Mexico. Set amid the remote Dragoon Mountains, 65 miles southeast of Tucson, the gathering strengthened connections to ancestral homelands, cultural traditions, and community while marking the program’s 12th year of supporting traditional arts revitalization in Native communities.
