Celebrate Día del Niño

An honoring of our precious children!

The Heard will celebrate Children’s Day with a community festival! Bring the entire family out for a day of fun, arts, storytelling, music, dance, games and activities for kids of all ages! Enjoy free samplings of food and agua fresca provided by Paletas Betty, the Heard’s Courtyard Café, and Sysco Systems restaurant partners. Best of all, admission to the museum and Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera is free for children 12 and under as well as up to two parents or guardians who accompany them.


El museo Heard los invita a celebrarar el día del niño con una fiesta para nuestro vecindario! Únese a celebrar con toda su familia a pasar un día lleno de diversión, artes, relatos, música, bailes, juegos y actividades aptas para todas las edades. Disfrute muestras GRATIS de comida y aguas frescas patrocinados por Paletas Betty, the Heard’s Courtyard Café, y Sysco Foods. La mejor parte es que la entrada a el museo y a la exposición de Frida Kahlo y Diego Rivera será GRATIS para niños menores de 12 años y para sus dos padres (o custodios) este 30 de Abril de las 11 a.m. a las 4 p.m.

As we anticipate this to be a very popular event, museum admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the museum’s daily capacity. Please plan to arrive early in order to avoid lines and ensure access before closing time.


Ya que se prevé que éste evento será muy popular, le informamos que la admisión al museo se otorgará en el orden de llegada de los participantes y será sujeta al cupo de las instalaciones. Le pedimos que llegue temprano para evitar colas y asegurar su entrada antes de la clausura del evento.

Music, family activities, and tasty treats in the Freeport McMoRan Plaza and Scott Libby Amphitheater.
Also, take part in creating a chalk art mural with 2017 Heard Museum Mercado Signature Artist Martin Moreno.

12 noon & 2:30 p.m.
Michael Heralda’s Aztec Stories
An interactive presentation for all ages! Through music, stories, narratives, and poetry, Heralda illuminates the sophistication of the Mexica/Aztec people from the Indigenous perspective.

Mariachi Performance by Harmony Project Phoenix
“Talent has no zip code.” This is the motto of the Harmony Project Phoenix, a non-profit music program for children that builds orchestras, bands, choirs and mariachi ensembles in underserved areas of Phoenix. Its primary goal is to use music as the tool to build productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

1:30 & 3:30 p.m.
Mask-Making with the Cultural Coalition
Masks have been used for thousands of years by many Indigenous peoples throughout the world. Create your own mask with performance artist Zarco Guerrero as he reveals the awesome power of the mask to transform.
